1972 Plymouth Duster 340

1972 Plymouth Duster 340

Cars

The car is a 1972 Plymouth Duster 340. I found it back in 2015. It was a relatively untouched car until I got a hold of it. I actually had Lorenzo build 2 motors for this car over the years. The first motor was the original 340 from the factory. I had Lorenzo go through it, he gave it a valve job, new pistons, new cam, ported the heads, a basic rebuild. It made 400 hp and 400 lb ft of torque on the dyno. It ran really good and I still have it. I tucked it away in the garage for the time being. The current motor is what makes this car so special. It is another 340 built by Lorenzo. However this motor made 626 hp and 605 lb ft of torque on the dyno. The block is a 1972 340 block that he converted to a 416 stroker. It has an eagle crank, girdled stock main caps, h-beam rods, trick flow power port 190 cylinder heads, a quickfuel 850 carburetor, and a custom ground camshaft. Behind the motor we have a built 4 speed that has been faceplated, a mopar 8 3/4 rear with 4.10 gears that has been braced, and a full caltracs setup. The motor has been set up to run on the street with 93 octane gas. I did everything else to the car in my garage except for the electrical work which was done by my father and the body work which was done at JDs Auto Restoration Center.
