1968 Chevrolet Chevelle

1968 Chevrolet Chevelle

Cars

The engine began as a 598 cubic inch Big Block Chevy that Lorenzo originally built. Gregg purchased it second-hand from his friend Ray and has been a loyal customer of Lorenzo’s ever since. He praises Lorenzo’s work, proudly calling him the “best of the best.”

This powerhouse engine resides in Gregg’s 1968 Chevelle, a car they run in top sportsman events. Before the recent upgrades Lorenzo made to the engine, the car was running consistent 4.70s in the 1/8th mile. After dyno testing at Lorenzo’s shop, the second pull was spun up to 7200 RPM, producing an impressive 1030 horsepower. With everything performing flawlessly, they decided to leave it there.

What’s particularly remarkable is that Lorenzo made changes to reduce compression by installing new pistons, and the engine lost very little horsepower in the process—a testament to his precision and expertise.

Since then, Gregg has been putting the Chevelle to good use, competing at races and showcasing its impressive performance.
